Today, Coast Guard and Maritime Transportation Subcommittee Chairman Mike Ezell (MS-04) released the following statement after the House of Representatives passed the Coast Guard Reauthorization Act of 2025, bipartisan legislation that ensures continued support for the U.S. Coast Guard and strengthens its ability to protect America’s waterways, coastlines, and maritime interests. “The Coast Guard plays a vital role in safeguarding our nation’s security, supporting economic activity, and responding to natural disasters and emergencies—especially along the Gulf Coast,” Ezell said. “This legislation gives the men and women of the Coast Guard the tools, training, and resources they need to carry out their missions safely and effectively. It not only strengthens our national security but also supports maritime jobs, ensures safe navigation, and protects our natural resources. I was proud to support this bill; it’s a win for Mississippi, a win for the Gulf Coast, and a win for the country.” “I want to commend the work of Coast Guard and Maritime Transportation Chairman Ezell for his work and leadership on this legislation to provide the men and women of the Coast Guard with the resources they need to carry out their many missions, including protecting our nation’s maritime borders, preventing illegal drugs and migrants from entering the country, and ensuring maritime safety,” T&I Committee Chairman Graves said. “This legislation builds on the historic investments in modernizing the Coast Guard’s air and sea assets provided by the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, and it supports the administration’s vision to strengthen America’s maritime and shipbuilding capabilities.” The Coast Guard Reauthorization Act of 2025 provides funding and operational authorities for the U.S. Coast Guard for the next two years. It includes critical investments in personnel, cutter modernization, infrastructure upgrades, and improved recruitment and retention efforts. The bill now heads to the Senate for further consideration. |
