Today, the House passed H.R. 5, the Parents Bill of Rights Act, which was introduced by Congresswoman Julia Letlow (LA-05) and cosponsored by Congressman Mike Ezell.
"Mississippi has some fantastic public schools where teachers, like my daughter, work with parents to ensure our kids get the best education possible," said Congressman Ezell. "The Parents Bill of Rights puts those principles into law."
H.R. 5 creates legal protections parents have when it comes to their children's education, comprising of five principle rights for parents:
House Republicans have made parents' rights a priority in the 118th Congress as the Biden Department of Justice and some local school boards have attempted to silence parents on education issues.
"Our education system should be a partnership that prioritizes kids and their families instead of a woke, big government agenda," said Congressman Ezell. “I will always support putting kids and their families first in education." |
