WXXV: Rep. Ezell reacts to proposed deportation policy

The Biden Administration is considering an unprecedented step to help stem the flow of migrants entering the U.S. from the Southern border.

Under the proposed policy, many non-Mexican migrants would be deported.

Right now, the Biden Administration is still leaning on the Trump-era COVID policy, known as Title 42, which allows authorities to turn away certain migrants at the border.

With Title 42 potentially expiring soon, officials are proposing a plan that would fast-track the deportation process known as expedited removal, and migrants from countries like Cuba, Venezuela, and Nicaragua would remain in Mexico.

Congressman Mike Ezell’s office said he is in favor of Biden addressing the border crisis.

A spokesman for Congressman Ezell tells WXXV: “While our office can’t confirm these reports or the details of any deal the Biden Administration might strike, we hope that President Biden is finally choosing to address the border crisis rather than continuing to ignore the problem."
