Dear [salutation], It's been a great week back home in South Mississippi. I've spent the time traveling across the district, giving people updates on our work in Congress and talking about ways to continue growing our economy and supporting our communities. There's way too much to fit in one newsletter, but here are a few of the highlights:

Representative Mike Ezell

Dear [salutation],

It's been a great week back home in South Mississippi. I've spent the time traveling across the district, giving people updates on our work in Congress and talking about ways to continue growing our economy and supporting our communities. There's way too much to fit in one newsletter, but here are a few of the highlights:

Showing Up in South Mississippi

I'm always encouraged by meeting with organizations that are invested in their communities, and I had the privilege of doing that several times this week.

On Tuesday, I met with the Forrest-Lamar Republican Women. I spoke about the work I've been doing in the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure to strengthen and improve roads, ports, rail, and airports across the Pine Belt and the entire state.

I also answered questions from several women about the crisis at our southern border. I visited the border last year, and I unfortunately wasn't surprised by what I saw. Cartels are in control, and drugs and illegal aliens are flooding into the country by the busload.

When I visited the Harrison County Republican Club on Wednesday, I heard from Attorney General Lynn Fitch about the impact her office is seeing from this crisis. She described their efforts to combat the dangers of fentanyl and human trafficking.

Stopping these problems requires our communities to work together at all levels—from individuals and families to city and county governments to our state and federal officials. As your Congressman, I'm doing my part to help address these issues.

I helped author the strongest border legislation to ever pass the U.S. House of Representatives, and I worked with my colleagues on the House Homeland Security Committee to impeach Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas.

I'm also working hard to protect and strengthen the economy on our Gulf Coast. On Thursday, I spoke to the Gulf Coast Business Council (GCBC) about my efforts to deepen the Port of Gulfport and to fix the problems caused by the opening of the Bonnet Carré Spillway.

My friends from the Mississippi Sound Coalition were there to speak at Thursday's GCBC meeting. They're helping to lead the charge to protect the Mississippi Sound estuary and our entire ecosystem from the devastating effects of freshwater intrusion.

If you were impacted by the opening of the Bonnet Carré, I encourage you to attend one of next Tuesday's public meetings held by the Army Corps of Engineers. The meetings will be at 2:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. at the Hancock County Library in Bay St. Louis.

Giving Our Heroes the Care They Deserve

On Wednesday, I visited the Armed Forces Retirement Home in Gulfport, one of only two like it in the country (the other is located in Washington, DC, not too far from Capitol Hill).

I enjoyed spending the morning with residents and staff to discuss the importance of supporting our veterans and those with disabilities. Every staff member I met shared a passion for serving those who served us.

I'm proud to have this incredible facility in South Mississippi, and I'll continue fighting to ensure every veteran receives the respect and care they deserve.

Growth and Investment in Jones County

I had a great day in Jones County meeting with local leaders and entrepreneurs in both Laurel and Ellisville. One of the biggest recurring themes was how this administration's overregulation is killing industry.

That's been one of the primary focuses of this House majority. Unelected bureaucrats can't be allowed to stifle innovation and kill jobs. That's why we've passed bills like the REINS Act, which would require any major regulation to be approved by Congress before going into effect.

In Mississippi, we've proven that getting government red tape out of the way allows businesses to thrive. That's why we're seeing growth and investment from companies like Cold-Link Logistics, which is opening a new freezer warehouse in Ellisville that I was able to tour.

It also helps to have our educational institutions focused on training students for the jobs of the future. While I was in town, I stopped by to see my friend Dr. Jesse Smith, President of Jones College.

I updated Dr. Smith on our work in Washington, and he updated me on some of the incredible things his team has been doing to ensure their students are prepared to help Mississippi grow.

The growth and innovation in Jones County is a great example of what we're seeing all across South Mississippi. I'm proud to play a part in that as your United States Congressman.

I'll be back home for a few more days before returning to Washington for votes next week. With a government funding deadline looming, I'm not sure what the future holds—but I know I'll continue to fight to cut wasteful spending and hold Washington accountable. If you have questions about pending legislation or need help with a federal agency, please contact my team via my website or at one of the offices below.

It's an honor to serve you and all of South Mississippi.

Sincerely,

Mike Ezell
