The House Committee on Homeland Security began our markup of the articles of impeachment against Secretary Mayorkas on Tuesday morning around 10:00am ET. From the very beginning, it was clear Democrats on the committee were going to use as many stall tactics as they could to delay the process.
For the most part, they didn't bother arguing that Mayorkas has complied with federal law or kept his word to the American people—they know he hasn't. Instead, they used parliamentary stall tactics to obstruct and delay for as long as possible.
Thankfully, Homeland Security Republicans didn't give up. After more than fifteen hours (just after 1:00am on Wednesday morning), we finally advanced those articles out of committee. I outlined my reasoning for supporting the articles of impeachment in an op-ed Monday, which you can read here.
