We finished off the week by passing H.R. 5, the Parents Bill of Rights Act. I was proud to cosponsor this legislation, which was led by Rep. Julia Letlow (LA-05).
Over the last several years, we've seen a disturbing shift in our education system. Millions of Americans have been told the lie that administrators and Washington bureaucrats know what's best for our kids.
Instead of stopping this craziness, the Biden administration has encouraged it, even labeling parents as domestic terrorists for asking questions at school board meetings.
Thankfully, those problems aren't universal. In Mississippi, we have wonderful teachers (like my daughter) who work with parents to ensure our kids are getting the best education possible. Those principles should be the standard for every student in every school, which is why I'm proud to support the Parents Bill of Rights.
The legislation protects parents' right to know and read what's being taught in their kid's schools, protects the privacy of children, and ensures that bureaucrats can't ignore parent's voices.
I'll always stand for putting our families first in education.
