During yesterday's hearing of the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure's Water Resources and Environment Subcommittee, Congressman Mike Ezell applauded the Army Corps of Engineers for the ongoing feasibility study regarding deepening and widening the federal navigation channel at the Port of Gulfport.
In response to Congressman Ezell, Mr. Michael Connor Connor Assistant Secretary of the Army for Civil Works, praised the Port of Gulfport.
"I had the great opportunity to be there when we signed the feasibility cost share agreement," Assistant Secretary Connor said during the hearing. "That is an impressive facility given not just the diversification with respect to the goods but the other economic activities that the port supports and the way it's integrated into the community."
"Assistant Secretary Connor and I agree about the importance of the Port of Gulfport," said Congressman Ezell. "I appreciate the Army Corps of Engineers' efforts to keep the feasibility study moving at a timely pace. I look forward to continuing to work with leadership of both the Corps and the Port of Gulfport to keep this project moving."
