Representative Mike Ezell

Dear [firstname],

I've been able to spend a lot of time this week at home in South Mississippi meeting with constituents and community leaders, as well as touring some of the businesses that drive our local economy. At the same time, my team and I have been continuing to work on legislation that advances our conservative values.

Here's what we've been up to this week:

Showing Up for South Mississippi

I've had the pleasure of visiting with folks all throughout the Fourth District this week. One of the best stops was the new Scotch Plywood mill in Waynesboro.

Two years ago, a massive fire destroyed their old mill, which had been a part of the community for decades. The company rebuilt in the same location, and their new facility has even more space and more production capacity than the old mill.

The timber industry in the Pine Belt is critical to our state's economy. In addition to the mill workers employed by companies like Scotch, the industry helps thousands of people across the district feed their families, including farmers, truckers, and employees of trucking support companies.

In Washington, I'm fighting against overburdensome regulations that threaten our small businesses and make it more difficult for hardworking Mississippians to earn a living.

Standing With Gulf Coast Shrimpers

I was proud to join several of my colleagues in Congress in a letter to U.S. Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo and U.S. Trade Representative Ambassador Katherine Tai about the issues facing our Gulf Coast shrimping industry.

Our Gulf Coast shrimpers are having to deal with not only the outrageous fuel prices and labor shortages caused by Democrats' massive spending plans, but also foreign imports that threaten to put them out of business.

These issues affect coastal communities from Florida to Texas, which is why our letter, led by Representatives Randy Weber (TX-14), Garret Graves (LA-06), and Vicente Gonzalez (TX-34), was signed by a bipartisan group of Members from all 5 Gulf states.

As a lifelong resident of the Mississippi Gulf Coast, I know many people who rely on the shrimping industry to support their families. In Mississippi alone, dockside values of shrimp account for over $12 million per year.

We can't allow other nations to break the rules and put hardworking Americans out of work.

Supporting the 2nd Amendment

As a former sheriff, I know that limiting our law-abiding citizens' abilities to keep and bear arms isn't a solution to our nation's violent crime issues. That's why I'm proud to cosponsor H.R. 38, the Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act.

The legislation was originally sponsored by my friend, Representative Richard Hudson (NC-09) and would ensure American citizens' ability to carry a concealed handgun doesn't stop at state lines.

It applies to both concealed carry permit holders and residents of Constitutional carry states such as Mississippi.

As unelected bureaucrats attempt to take away our gun rights, House Republicans are working to protect the Constitution and expand your rights to keep and bear arms.

My team and I are in the final steps of setting up district offices across both the Gulf Coast and the Pine Belt. Be on the lookout for addresses and ribbon-cutting information. In the meantime, our DC office is already up-and-running to serve you. If you need help, please give us a call at (202) 225-5772.

Please forward this newsletter to your friends and family and encourage them to sign up at ezell.house.gov so they can stay up to date about how I'm fighting for them in Washington and at home.

Please also connect with us on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram to get more frequent updates from my office.

It's a great honor to serve you and all the people of South Mississippi in Congress.

Sincerely,

Mike Ezell
