Today, the House passed H.R. 1, the Lower Energy Costs Act.
Included in the final bill was an amendment from Congressman Mike Ezell, along with Congressmen Garret Graves (LA-06), Dan Crenshaw (TX-02), and Jerry Carl (AL-01), which supports energy production off the Mississippi coast.
"Our amendment makes a good bill even better," said Congressman Ezell. "Energy jobs are critical to the economies of our Gulf states, and I'm proud to work with other Members to cut red-tape and support those high-paying jobs."
H.R.1 is sponsored by Republican Majority Leader Rep. Steve Scalise (LA-01). It would increase domestic production of oil, natural gas, and critical minerals by streamlining regulations and reforming outdated permitting processes.
"For the last two years, the Biden Administration has implemented radical energy policies that have caused the price of gas and other household expenses to skyrocket," Congressman Ezell said. "H.R. 1 is common-sense legislation that addresses these problems."
