Representative Mike Ezell

Dear [salutation],

In case you missed it, I wanted to resend my newsletter from Friday. In addition to my normal weekly recap, it highlights a major update for our South Mississippi veterans.

Please help me by sharing this information with friends and family who served in the armed forces. It's important that every veteran knows about this so they can receive the benefits they deserve.

URGENT: VA PACT Act Benefit Deadline Extended Until TODAY, MONDAY, AUGUST 14TH

Because of high demand and issues with their website, the Department of Veterans Affairs has extended the deadline to apply for benefits under the PACT Act to TODAY, MONDAY, AUGUST 14th.

The PACT Act was passed last Congress and expands benefits for veterans who were exposed to toxic substances such as burn pits and Agent Orange during their service. I want to make sure all of our veterans have the information they need and are able to access the benefits and care they deserve.

To learn more about the PACT Act and apply for benefits, click HERE or call 1-800-MY-VA-411.

My office is also able to help veterans with VA issues. If you have questions about your benefits, military records, VA loans, or other veterans issues, please reach out on our website or by contacting us at any of our office locations at the bottom of this email.

Getting Government Out of the Way

It's been a great week back home. I've spent my time meeting with community leaders and small business owners across the district. Each conversation was different, but every one of them talked about how Washington red tape makes it harder to get things done.

Rep. Ezell at Uncle Joe's Pizza & Wings in Diamondhead

I met with Susan, the owner of Uncle Joe's Pizza & Wings, at her Diamondhead restaurant. Restaurants and other small businesses are seeing the effects of rising transportation costs on her business.

Inflation and over-regulation make it more expensive to produce and transport everything from ingredients to pizza boxes. At the same time, left-wing bureaucrats want to ban gas stoves and other appliances.

Rep. Ezell visits Coast Electric

The team at Coast Electric is experiencing similar challenges. The Biden Administration wants to regulate away much of our energy infrastructure, which would send consumer costs through the roof.

We must maintain an all-of-the-above strategy for energy. Fossil fuels, renewables, and nuclear energy are all needed to meet our current demand.

That's why House Republicans passed H.R. 1, which would restore domestic energy production and bring down fuel costs while making it easier to produce batteries and other components to renewable energy here in the United States.

House Republicans know that our nation's problems demand less government, not more. As your Congressman, I'm continuing the fight to cut red tape, trim government spending, and get Washington out of the way.

Preparing for Cyber Challenges

Yesterday, we hosted our first Fourth Congressional District Cybersecurity Roundtable.

As a part of the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Protection subcommittee of the House Committee on Homeland Security, I’ve been briefed numerous times about cyber activity that threatens our critical infrastructure, from energy to defense to healthcare, as well as small-to-midsized businesses.

The reallity is pretty shocking. Cyberattacks have cost trillions of dollars and shut down businesses, government entities, schools, and hospitals around the world. More than a quarter of the world’s cyberattacks target the United States, and our adversaries like China and Russia are working to strengthen their cyberwarfare capabilities.

Rep. Ezell speaks at CISA Roundtable

That's why my team and I brought leaders from across the Gulf Coast together to hear from the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) about the resources they offer.

I'm grateful to Dr. Mary Graham, Dr. Cedric Bradley, and everyone at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College for allowing us to host this roundtable at their Harrison County campus. The event was a huge success, and I hope to hold another similar roundtable in the Pine Belt soon.
