Congressman Mike Ezell spoke on the House floor today urging his colleagues to vote to impeach Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas. Congressman Ezell's prepared remarks are below:
"Mr. Speaker, before coming to Congress, I spent 8 years as a sheriff and more than 42 total in law enforcement. If I hadn’t done my job as Sheriff, I would’ve been fired and removed from office.
Secretary Mayorkas has not done his job. He has willfully ignored immigration laws passed by Congress and allowed our southern border to fall into utter chaos.
His breach of the public trust cannot go unanswered. I voted to hold him accountable in committee last week, and I will do so today on the floor. I urge my colleagues to vote in favor of this impeachment and hold Secretary Mayorkas accountable for his actions."
The House is expected to vote on the impeachment later today.
