Several weeks ago, I wrote about my support of H.J. Res. 44, preventing the ATF from enforcing their pistol brace rule. This rule would treat pistols with stabilizing braces as short-barreled rifles. 

If this rule were to take effect, it would make thousands of legal gun owners face up to TEN years in jail along with fines of THOUSANDS of dollars. Even worse, most of the people affected are disabled veterans who need these braces in order to exercise their second amendment.

Thankfully, a federal judge in Texas temporarily blocked the rule this week. While this is a great win, the fight is not over yet. Congress MUST pass HJ Res 44 to block this permanently and protect our Second Amendment. 

I spent my entire career in law enforcement–more than forty years–keeping our communities safe. One thing was clear from my experience: unconstitutional gun laws and regulations won't make our communities safer.

Earlier this month, Chairman James Comer (KY-01) of the House Oversight Committee issued a subpoena for a document he and Senator Chuck Grassley (R-IA) said describes an, “alleged criminal scheme involving then-Vice President Biden and a foreign national relating to the exchange of money for policy decisions".

FBI Director Christopher Wray has repeatedly refused to provide a copy of the document to Congress. Chairman Comer has begun the process of holding Director Wray in contempt of Congress.

While I'm glad the FBI has finally agreed to bring the document to Congress next week, It shouldn't take threats of contempt to get transparency out of the FBI.

As a graduate of the FBI National Academy, I'm extremely disappointed in how higher-ups in the Bureau have allowed politics to become more important than serving the American people. It's absolutely unacceptable.

Yesterday, the Biloxi VA Medical Center replaced an American flag at its Pass Road entrance with a rainbow pride flag. While I believe everyone should be treated with respect, I take serious issue with any flag flying at a VA facility that promotes social policy positions or political statements.

I wrote a letter to Biden's VA Secretary McDonough and the interim director of the Medical Center asking to have it taken down:

Our VA should be focused on serving and providing quality care to veterans, not on pushing a social or political agenda.

Please join me in praying for the families and communities of two Mississippi police officers who were involved in a standoff on Wednesday night and Thursday morning. Madison PD officer Randy Tyler was shot and killed, and a Brandon PD officer was injured and is currently in the hospital.

It's a heartbreaking reminder that law enforcement officers truly put their lives on the line each and every day. As a forty-two year law enforcement officer, I will never stop fighting to support those brave men and women in every way I can.
