Representative Mike Ezell

Dear [salutation],

This week, I returned to Washington to continue fighting for our South Mississippi values. Here's what my team and I have been doing:

100 Days of Standing Up for You

Monday marked 100 days since I was sworn in as your Congressman.

From my first day, I've worked to make constituent service a top priority. My office has responded to thousands of constituent inquiries and solved hundreds of problems for the people of South Mississippi.

Of everything we've accomplished so far, the most important to me was my first bill:

On Day 19, Congressman Ezell introduced his first bill, H.Res. 63.

In addition to H.Res. 63, I've been a major supporter of several other bills. Together with my colleagues the House Republican majority, we've passed key elements of our Commitment to America, including:

  • The Lower Energy Costs Act (H.R.1)
  • The Parents Bill of Rights (H.R.5)
  • The Pandemic is Over Act (H.R. 382)

While I'm proud of what we've accomplished so far, this is only the beginning. You sent me to Washington to work, and that's what I will continue to do.

Opposing Biden's Bureaucracy

On Tuesday, the House voted to override President Biden's veto of H.J. Res. 27.

H.J. Res. 27, which passed the House and Senate last month, would have overturned a disastrous EPA rule regulating Waters of the United States (WOTUS). The WOTUS rule gives the Biden Administration authority to regulate puddles and drainage ditches across America and places a significant burden on farmers and landowners across the country.

If you missed it, here's a brief explanation of why WOTUS matters:

Unfortunately, we didn't have the 2/3 votes in the House necessary to override Biden's veto. While a handful of Democrats joined us in voting to override the veto, the vast majority of them sided with Biden and against the farmers and landowners who will suffer because of his land-grab.

This isn't the first time that President Biden has used the veto to expand the power of the federal bureaucracy, and I doubt it will be the last. But regardless of how many vetoes he issues, I won't stop fighting to keep bureaucracy in check and protect our freedoms.

Women's Sports are for Women

On Thursday, House Republicans passed the Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act (H.R. 734), which I was proud to cosponsor.

I never thought it would be controversial to say "women's sports are for women," but some Democrats in Congress think that's bullying. I disagree.

Supporting female athletes isn't bullying, but men stealing trophies and opportunities from women and girls absolutely is.

I want to know your thoughts. Do you support the Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act? Please take a minute to fill out the survey below, and please share with your friends and family so I can know where they stand.

Should women's sports be for just women?

I'll be meeting with leaders from Camp Shelby and other Mississippi military installations early next week before returning to Washington for more votes. To see what my office is working on throughout the week, please follow us on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.

As always, if you need help with a federal agency or have questions about legislation, please call one of the offices listed below or contact us on our website at ezell.house.gov.

It's my honor to continue serving you in Congress.

Sincerely,

Mike Ezell
